King's College freshman Lyndsey Hoerner (Northern Lebanon) was selected to All-Freedom Conference Softball First Team, while Lebanon Valley College senior Amy Batz (Cedar Crest) was picked for the All-Commonwealth Conference Softball First Team.

IUP freshman Ceasar Westbrook (McCaskey) was named PSAC Rookie of the Year in men's indoor track and field. At the conference championships, Westbrook placed fourth in the long jump and second in the triple jump with a season-best jump of 48'-6 1/4". At the national meet, he just missed All-America status by placing ninth in the triple jump.
Lebanon Valley College senior Erik Vargo (Lancaster Catholic) has been named Commonwealth Player of the Week in tennis for going 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles ... Messiah College junior Jeremy Stoltzfus (Conestoga Valley) has been selected as Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week for his first victory of the season, a 10-0 win at Albright ... Shippensburg University junior outfielder Justin Garber (Elizabethtown) was named PSAC Western Division Player of the Week in baseball for hitting .500 on the week ... Lafayette freshman attack Matt Mersky (Lancaster Country Day) was named an honorable mention Player of the Week in lacrosse in the Patriot League.
After hitting three home runs in a single game and setting a new school record in the process, West Chester University junior outfielder Drew Pare (Hempfield) was named PSAC Eastern Division Baseball Player of the Week.
King's College freshman Lindsay Hoerner (Northern Lebanon) has been named Freedom Conference Pitcher of the Week for allowing only two hits and a pair of unearned runs and throwing seven strike-outs over five innings in a win over Wesley College.
According to the UMBC athletics website, freshman Kyle Wimer (Hempfield) "has made an immediate impact on the offensive end for UMBC." Wimer is fourth on the team with nine points and was named America East Conference Rookie of the Week earlier this month.
Kutztown University junior Ashley Singer (Warwick) set two school records during competition at the the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships. On Wednesday, Singer broke her own record in the 1000 free (10:42.18) and yesterday did the same in the 200 free (1:53.35).
Messiah College senior Jared Yoder (Lancaster Mennonite) was selected to the 2006-2007 D3Hoops.com Men's Basketball All-Middle Atlantic Region Second Team. Yoder was earlier named Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year.
Shippensburg University freshman wrestler Steve Fittery (Cocalico) finished in second place at the 2007 Division II National Championships. After his four decisions at the National Championships, Fittery's final record for the season is 36-7. He earned All-American status with his performance.
Elizabethtown College senior forward Val Bawell (Garden Spot), senior forward Whitney Brown (Manheim Central) and first-year defender Kelsey Brown (Manheim Central) have earned spots on the National Field Hockey Coaches’ Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad by posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher.
Millersville University senior Greg Testa (Lancaster Catholic) was named to the All-PSAC Basketball Team (Eastern Division First Team).
Kutztown University junior Ashley Singer (Warwick) was named KU Student Bookstore "Athlete of the Week." Singer set two school records and qualified for nationals at the PSAC Championships last weekend.
Franklin & Marshall College junior forward Derek Hines (Manheim Twp.) has been named a finalist for the Jostens Trophy, which honors the Division III Men's and Women's Basketball Outstanding Athletes of the Year. Recipients of the Jostens Trophy must exhibit excellence in basketball, academics and community service. Designed and sponsored by Jostens and the Rotary Club of Salem, Virginia, the 64-pound trophy stands nearly two feet tall and features an eight-inch crystal basketball. Recipients will be announced in conjunction with the Division III Men's Championship Tournament in March.
Messiah College senior forward Jared Yoder (Lancaster Mennonite) has been selected to the 2006-07 First Team All-Commonwealth Conference basketball squad.
The following Shippensburg University field hockey players were named to the 2006 National Field Hockey Coaches’ Association (NFHCA) Division II National Academic Squad: sophomore Kim Davies (Cedar Crest), freshman Jamie Doughty (Lampeter-Strasburg), senior Kendra Emery (Lancaster/Mennonite) and junior Megan Keener (Lancaster Mennonite).
F&M junior Derek Nowak (Lancaster Catholic) was named the Men's Outstanding Performer at the 2007 Centennial Conference Swimming Championship this past weekend. Nowak won the 500 and 1650 freestyle and the 400-yard individual medley and contributed legs on the winning 400 and 800 free relay squads.
Elizabethtown College sophomore Chris Miller (Cedar Crest) received the David B. Eavenson Award as the Most Outstanding Male Swimmer at the Middle Atlantic Conference swimming championships last weekend. Miller won the 500 free, 100 back and 200 back, set two school records in the process and qualified for the NCAA III Championships.
Washington & Jefferson sophomore Brittany Bertoli (Hempfield) wrapped up her first season as a three-time PAC Champion. Bertoli won the 200 butterfly (2:10.49), setting a new team record. She then took first in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:00.24 and swam a leg on the victorious 200 medley relay, which qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships.
IUP freshman Caesar Westbrook (McCaskey) has been named PSAC Athlete of the Week in indoor track and field. Westbrook won the triple jump and finished second in the long jump at the West Virginia University State Farm Shell Games last week.
Penn State heavyweight Aaron Anspach (Columbia) has been named Big Ten Co-Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Feb. 4. Anspach entered the weekend's Big Ten duals with Northwestern and Iowa ranked No. 13 nationally, but has jumped to third after two wins last week. Read more at GoPSUsports.com.
Shippensburg University sophomore Alli Rineer (Warwick) was recognized by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as an All-Academic individual award winner. Rineer was one of 170 female student-athletes honored by the USTFCCCA. Rineer finished 21st at the NCAA Division II East Region Championships last fall.
At 133 pounds, Elizabethtown College freshman Eric Rhoads (Manheim Central) won three bouts and placed sixth overall in his weight class at the Wheaton College (Ill.) Pete Willson Invitational last weekend.
